Science

At Falcon Junior School, we love Science! We aim to spark curiosity and inspire our children to ask questions about the world around them. Science is an exciting and essential part of our curriculum, and we enrich learning through events like our much-loved Science Week, which is enjoyed by all year groups.

Our goal is that by the end of Year 6, every child has a strong grasp of the big ideas in biology, chemistry, and physics. Alongside this, pupils develop their understanding of disciplinary science—learning how scientific knowledge is built through working scientifically, making observations, carrying out investigations, and drawing conclusions.

We are proud to be part of the Ogden Trust School Partnerships Programme, which offers funding and support to groups of schools in England that are committed to enhancing physics teaching and learning. Through this partnership, we have a team of trained Science Ambassadors who help promote science across the school. They take part in workshops with our feeder infant schools, lead lunchtime science activities, and support a wide range of science-based events and initiatives.
