Design and Technology at Falcon is a creative, inspiring and practical subject. We want children here to use their imagination to design, make and evaluate products that solve real and relevant problems. Our aim is that through DT pupils are able to create Something for Somebody for Some purpose. Through DT, we want children at Falcon to draw on their knowledge from other areas of the curriculum such as Mathematics, Science, Computing and Art. We want pupils to be comfortable in taking risks and to become resourceful, innovative and resilient learners. By the time our children leave Falcon, we want them to understand the process of designing, making and evaluating and to have had experience of projects involving structures, mechanical systems, electrical systems, textiles; as well as cooking and nutrition. We want children to have acquired new technical knowledge and vocabulary and to understand the importance of Design and Technology in the wider world by investigating and evaluating existing products, by learning how things work and by learning about past and present designers.
